| Finally, a view from above of the canopy. | |
| Guess what this is. | |
| Audra on the Sky Walk. If you look closely, you see the pants tucked into the socks because of the tarantula. | |
| Feb. 20th, Monteverde Preserve: Hard to see hummingbird. | |
| A hummingbird at Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. | |
| Slightly easier to see hummingbird. Anyone know what kind this is? | |
| The reason they call it a cloud forest. The top of one of the trails at Monteverde Reserve, on our second day in the area. We didn't see any quetzals this time, but the walk was beautiful. We are near the continental divide when this photo was taken. | |
| Feb. 21st, Alajuela, near San Jose: Breakfast (cooked by Jose himself) at Vida Tropical near San Jose. The yard next door was full of bunnies. How tropical. The rooms were very comfortable, the food was great - a nice place to stop before heading out the Osa Peninsula. | |
| Audra on her 6th re-packing of the trip. Putting clothing into separate plastic bags made things easily re-packable if you had to empty the bag to find something. Dirty laundry in separate bags kept the clean clothes smelling good. Books and film in plastic bags kept them same from excessive humidity. Keeping things sprayed at home with permetrhin (heavy duty bug repellant for the densest jungle trip) kept the chemicals in (at least, it seemed that way). | |
| Feb. 22nd: Our pilot and co-pilot on the flight to the Osa Peninsula. You could see the countryside from fairly close up - the shorelines, the jungles, the mountains we passed over. Not only did it make the trip 30 min (vs. 6 hours by bus), but you got a great view of the landscape. |
